Residential new home builders, both single-family and four stories or less multi-family, earn California Green Builder certification by meeting all program requirements and by following certain protocols.

One of the requirements for CGB home certification calls for third party inspections. Home Energy Rating System raters may become certified as a California Green Builder rater by following certain procedures.
